The source is a database of the United Nations that contains over 60 million trustful records in 34 databases; from which a close analysis is made to give the corresponding data result obtained between the UN analysis and data obtained from each country.

The data showed in this graph corresponds to the number of seats held by women in the UK since 1990 to the present. Its limitation is that it could show more information that shows contrast between male candidates and their level of academic and professional experience.

What is interesting in the chart showed attached, is that a significant increment occurred between the years of 1997 and 1999; and since then, women have been having a progressive rising presence in the United Kingdom parliament. What we should also figure out is what social, political, historical or economic factors happened during this period to generate this change.
